Much of the country’s interior faces heavy humidity and subtropical temperatures, making winegrowing difficult. However, it is a country with a growing reputation regarding wine production. What is a ‘Phytoplasma’?

Phytoplasma was previously known as ‘Mycoplasma’. They are small, sometimes microscopic organisms that are related to bacteria. Unfortunately, ‘Phytoplasma’ is related with Phloem vine diseases transmitted by insects and grafting. The most serious disease that they can cause is ‘Grapevine Yellows’ (particularly in Slovenia and Hungary).
