Vines naturally create cytokinins in their root tips, which influence the growth of other plant parts which also impact the quality of inflorescences (see inflorescences for more details) and favor cell division.
Dry soils yield fewer cytokinins (as well as cold and wet soils). This seems to be essential for early shoot growth and budbreak (see budbreak for more details).
