Barossa Valley, Australia

The Barossa Valley is the core of Australia’s wine industry. It is undoubtedly Australia’s most well-known wine region, and it produces the majority of the country’s wine. However, it is to be noted that a large percentage of it is imported in from vines outside the valley.

Planting is moving away from the valley level and up onto the hillsides.

On the other hand, the immeasurable worth of old Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvèdre vineyards, some of which are over 150 years old, planted without irrigation, and ungrafted, makes this a legacy region that cannot be ignored or replaced.

The Barossa zone, as defined by Australia’s official wine geography, encompasses the wine areas of the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley.
