The Bodegas de Crianza y Expedicion are Jerez wine companies in charge of ageing and shipping wines. These bodegas are usually called ‘Shippers’. The ‘Bodegas de Crianza y Expedicion’ is the only of the 3 Jerez registers (the other two being Bodega de la Zona de Produccion and Bodega de Crianza y Almacenado’) in charge of exporting wines from D.O. Jerez-Xeres-Sherry or D.O. Manzanilla.

These companies must absolutely be located in the Marco de Jerez also called ‘Zona de Crianza’. This is because this virtual triangle between Sanlucar de Barrameda, Jerez de la Frontera and El Puerto de Santa Maria, is the best area to age Sherry wines. This is because this area possess a unique microclimate and humidity that allows the development of a highly qualitative flor unique to Jerez wines.

In addition to selling the finished wine, these bodegas are allowed to mature the wines, which may can be young wines straight from the Bodegas de Producción or may come as matured wines from the Bodegas de Crianza y Almacenado.
