The term Anbaugebiet is used to designate one of the 13 wine regions in Germany. These areas are critical to German wine labeling and German wine laws.
The origins of the wines crafted in one of these 13 geographically defined areas are protected.
These Aubaugebiet can be divided in Bereiche, Großlagen, Einzellagen and Katasterlagen(Gewanne).
It should be noted that the term Weinbaugebiet is used in Austria instead of Anbaugebiet.
